We do not know where ghosts come from. While we know that spirits of the departed do not float around just to scare us, the nature of ghosts is still a matter of conjecture. They may be some kind of embodiment of dragon magic, or they may be actual spirit beings akin to dragons. Either way, the sight of a ghost can chill one's soul. The glowing apparition floating out of a fog bank or around the corner can be a nasty surprise. They may be employed as protectors of dragon treasure, as are skeletons. More often they are just trying to scare someone. It is often difficult to see a ghost at any distance beyond a few feet.
The touch of a ghost can transfer the False Loss Sin Enchantment. Any victim will begin to feel that the sacrifices they have made for the service of the OverLord have been too costly to them personally. They will feel sorry for making them, and will avoid making any more. The False Loss Sin Enchantment damages a LightRaider's Joy rating, and the defense is the LightRaider's Faithfulness rating. The haunting howl of the ghost attacks a LightRaider's Courage, be prepared!
There is an unconfirmed theory that ghosts can not be hurt by physical weapons and may only be damaged by the Surpassing Greatness WordRune. The ghost can cause damage by some kind of shock that it delivers by touch.
Adventure Master Notes:
Usually, a LightRaider can attempt to see a ghost with a Vision check at DL 9 during the day, and at DL 4 at night. At less than 20 feet, the ghost is easily seen at night, DL 2 during the day.
The Difficulty Level of the False Loss Sin Enchantment is determined for each ghost at each encounter. The howl of the ghost can be heard up to a quarter mile away. The Difficulty Level of the Courage roll is also determined by the Shadow Stone, and failure of the Courage check would mean that the LightRaider will be stunned and cannot take any action (except dropping weapons or equipment) for one round of battle. The ghost can howl and attack in the same round.

PHILLIPIANS 3:7-9
But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
PHILLIPIANS 3:7-9
